Dale Fryxell, Ph.D. - Principal
Consultant
Dr. Fryxell is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at Chaminade University where he teaches
both graduate counseling classes and undergraduate psychology courses. He is also a part-time instructor
at the University of Hawaii where he has taught in the Education, Psychology, Public Health, and Family
Resources Departments. Dr. Fryxell has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Minnesota, an M.A. in
Teaching from the University of St. Thomas, and an M.A. and Ph.D from the University of Hawaii. Dr.
Fryxell has served as a consultant to both the Hawaii Departments of Health and Education. He has worked
with over 12 different schools as a consultant for the Primary School Adjustment Project. Dr. Fryxell has
written, directed, and evaluated many local, state, and federal grants that have been funded by organizations
such as the Geist Foundation, the United States Department of Education, and SAMHSA. Prior to
working for Chaminade University, Dr. Fryxell was the Associate Director of the Hawaii University
Affiliated Programs (UAP) at the University of Hawaii. During his tenure at the UAP Dr. Fryxell worked
extensively with the Hawaii Department of Education and with the Hawaii Department of Health. Dr.
Fryxell has conducted research in several areas including educational placement, anger, violence, drug
and alcohol prevention, and community psychology. He has presented the findings of his research in
scholarly journals and at many state and national conferences. He is also an active public speaker and has
been an invited speaker at many school, district, and state level conferences and workshops where he has
spoken on diverse topics including; increasing parent involvement in education, school violence prevention,
inclusive education, positive behavioral supports, and parenting issues.
